The guidebook for the 1951 Exhibition of Architecture held at Lansbury in Poplar, South London as part of the Festival of Britain.
The guide relates the background to the Festival overall and specifically the Exhibition of Architecture. It then gives information on the buildings etc that were constructed at Lansbury. It also deals with the thinking on architecture and town planning generally at the time. A very interesting guide to architectural design in 1951.
The guide to the exhibition has 52 pages plus 48 pages of adverts for companies associated with the exhibition.
Size 235 x 180mm with card covers. Some very slight damage to front cover and making to back cover, otherwise it is in good condition.
Part of a series of well produced guides produced for the Festival of Britain.
An excellent reference book for anyone interested in architecture and design in the 1950's or the Festival of Britain overall.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
