This cookery book was produced specifically for the students at the Edinburgh College of Domestic Science, however according to the introduction by the School Principal it "should be of value to every housewife".
The book contains nearly 300 pages of recipes covering all areas of food including vegetarian recipes and "Cookery for Invalids".
As well as recipes the book gives guidance on general culinary matters such as scullery work, cooking on primus stoves and how to clean your kitchen range and hair sieves. Obviously these were all very important matters for cooks in the 1930's.
This copy is the revised and enlarged edition, the original was published in 1932 and so this copy may date from the 1940's. It came from the collection of a retired school domestic science teacher
Size 180 x 120mm with heavy board covers and has a total of 335 printed pages. The book has obviously been used and the cover has some staining and tears, the contents however are complete and unblemished.
