Subtle Seasoning, a recipe book produced by Lea & Perrins Ltd to promote the use of their Worcestershire Sauce. It was intended to show the wide range of uses for the sauce in cooking and food preparation but for obvious reasons it only includes savoury dishes.
The book contains 70 pages of which 50 are for recipes using Worcestershire Sauce. The introductory pages give general guidance on cooking and include sections on cooking terms, menu making, table appointments (how to lay a table) and hints on entertaining. At the back of the book are adverts for salad cream and tomato juice cocktail, both made by Lea & Perrins and for 'Midland' vinegar which I assume was also made by them.
Subtle Seasoning was first published in 1926 and this copy is the 9th edition which was published in 1940.
Size 195 x 130mm with card covers. The book has been used and there is a crease to the front cover, however overall the book is in good condition.
