Paper lace advert. Page & Shaw, chocolate makers, Boston
Page and Shaw Chocolate ad - select me for a larger image Page and Shaw Chocolate ad - select me for a larger image

This is a paper lace insert that I think would have been put inside a box of chocolates. It was used by Page & Shaw, chocolate makers from Boston, Massachusetts.

The company was founded in 1888 and moved to a larger factory in 1911 with stores in Canada, England and France. This must be from the later period as it has references to New York, Montreal, London and Paris. The company became bankrupt in 1930.

The paper base has another embossed gold section added to it featuring New York and Montreal, so possibly this was added to an older item when the company opened these new shops.

The insert has very feint markings on the back, from when it was used in a chocolate box. There is a diagonal crease but overall it is in remarkably good condition for something which is very fragile.

Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.

Postage is for UK only, please enquire for overseas postage.
